Dilema : How My Son Died In A Road Accident

My name is Felix Adeniyi  I am  based in Pashoku Aga in Ikorodu, a few months ago,  my son had a serious surgical recommended  problem I had to rush him that Friday evening when He collapsed and couldn’t walk, on getting to the hospital I was told that the doctor wasn’t around, so one of the nurses  called him, and the response was that he will be on his way immediately. The only choice I had at that time was to wait.

I Waited for almost an hour, when I finally saw him walking through the door I couldn’t hold back my anger I had to yell at him not minding if he was so much in a hurry, I have to blame him first for putting my sons life in a huge risk I was so loud that I didn’t hear myself saying; “Why did you take all this time to come? Don’t you know that my son’s life is in danger? Don’t you have any sense of responsibility?” The doctor smiled & said: “I am sorry, I wasn’t in the hospital & I came as fast as I could after receiving the call……And now, I wish you’d calm down so that I can do my work”  (I taunted him) “Calm down?! What if your son was in this room right now, would you calm down? If your own son dies now what will U do??” I said angrily. The doctor smiled again & replied: “I will say what Job said in the Holy Book “From dust we came & to dust we return, blessed be the name of God”. Doctors cannot prolong lives. Go & Intercede for your son, we will do our best by God’s grace”.  At this point, I was as furious as I was blasting him back to back saying: “Giving advises when we’re not concerned is so easy”

I think I was even wasting more time talking to him instead of letting him do his job... as if he read
my mind he hurriedly Walked out on me while I was brooding on what next I will say to him.  He was in the surgical room for hours and I was busy pacing to and fro the hall.  After about four hours (4hrs) the doctor came out followed by other nurses and they were all smiling and the doctor spoke to me without standing or even looking at my face he said:  “Thank goodness! Your son is saved!”  He carried on his way running out through the door and the next thing I did hear from him was “If you have any questions, ask the nurse!!” ,  “Why is he so arrogant? He couldn’t wait some minutes so that I ask about my son’s state” I said facing the nurse who stood to watch the drama between me and the doctor.
The nurse answered, tears coming down her face: “His son died yesterday in a road accident, he was in the burial when we called him for your son’s surgery. And now that he saved your son’s life, he left running to finish his son’s burial.” at this point I broke down in tears I couldn’t help it...I felt like exploding I sat there on the visitor's seat for close to thirty minutes (30 min.) before I stood up to check on my son and as I walk in those words which I said to the doctor keep ringing my head.
My advice for you all out there is never to judge anyone because you never know how their life is & what they’re going through”.  From that day I learned my lesson and I went back to apologize to him and currently we are good friends. That’s one of my stories on touching encounter with people. Thanks, #CharlianTv and #PeopleAroundLagos for the privilege to share this with people around the world and also to pass a message to them.
