It was my wedding night with Philip Enahoro, we just got to our hotel room where we ought to spend our honey mood, my husband went out to the reception to get a bottle of wine and some other delicacies he ordered. I heard a knock at the door, happily I ran and opened the door thinking it was my husband, as I opened the door a gun was pointed at my forehead, They were two guys fully armed, they told me not to make any noise that they weren’t here for me and they asked me to co-operate or else they would kill me. They took me out of my room and used me in entering other rooms and disarmed their properties and money, I was oblique to them because they had promised to release me after they were done operating in the hotel. Immediately they were done robbing they said I had seen their face and they took me with them outside the hotel premises and already a standby cab was waiting for them so we entered and they drove off.
On our way going we were noticed and chased by the police and there was an exchange of gunshots, within me I was very scared and prayed not to get shot because I was afraid of dying. After a while, we parked and came out of the vehicle and we were still chased by the police and while running one of the guns men was shot twice in his hand and was bleeding seriously, and he happened to be the hitman (leader). They held me running and somehow the police loosed trace of us. We were able to locate an uncompleted building, which was far from the street, the second of the gunmen told his boss that was shot that they should just kill me because I was slowing their movement but the leader said that he shouldn’t kill me yet, while they were still discussing he was bleeding he then cut a piece out of my wedding gown and bandaged his hand to stop the bleeding. We slept there that night and another night. The third night the leader could not embrace the pain anymore; the bleeding got worst and some hour later he died.
Hmmm, I was filled with fear because the man that said that they shouldn’t be killed had just died. The second gunman cried and was fussed and tensed. We couldn’t sleep throughout the night. in the morning suddenly a woman passed by and she stopped and urinated, the gunman thinking she had seen us killed her and took off her cloth and asked me to take off my wedding gown and wear the woman's cloth I quickly obeyed him with fear all over me. He asked me to follow him and took me outside and said I should Run without looking back, I started running and as I was running he was also running towards another direction, as I was running with so much grief and fear in me, I was knocked down by a vehicle.
Opening my eyes in the hospital, there was a bandage in my head and I asked how I ended up in the hospital, the doctor told me I was hit by a moving vehicle, Then I was asked if I had anyone I could call but I said I had none, Forgetting that I had a husband. An old man came in and the doctor said he was the one who knocked me off the road; the old man paid my bill and took me with him to his house since I had no family to call or anyone. I moved in with the old man and I lived with him for a year until one day I was watching a television station and a pastor was preaching, each time I watched him preaching I always enjoyed his service, I kept watching his service regularly and seeing his face I recalled I was married, at first I didn’t remember him until one fateful day I was watching him preach and I began to recalled I was earlier married and the man preaching is my husband, so I decided to attend his service on Sunday at the church auditorium and I sat in the front seat, though he was married as I saw his wife also in the church. He then climbed the altar an began to preach, I was looking so deeply at him and immediately he sighted me he was shocked, I could sense his discomfort and disturbed like he has seen a ghost but he was in sync with his spirit until he finished the sermon. After the service I asked for an audience with him and I was granted so I was asked to go to his office, as I knocked and opened the door, I entered and he asked me to sit down and he called me by my name, then I knew he was really my husband, he started to question me what happened during our wedding night, I explained and told him everything as I remembered, some ministers were there and heard the story, he asked where I was living and I told him in details, I was sobered and the ministers told me to come back the next Sunday. So I left feeling happy that I found my husband and I was also sad because he had remarried.
Before the Sunday I was invited by the pastor, so I went and he said he prayed and had sought the face of God, and he discussed with his ministers that it was laid in his heart to Restitute since his first wife was still alive, and since we did a white marriage that he would take me in as his wife, and I asked about his other wife he got married to while I was away, and he said that it is the church doctrine and also in the Bible that his legal wife is his first wife, that he would quit the marriage with her, explain things better to her, though it wouldn’t be easy he said.
I was happy and I packed all my things to my husband house, now the second wife has refused to leave the house, when my husband is not around she fights me, insults me and we nag at each other. My husband been the Pastor and the minister of a church came to the house and explained to her why he has to quit the marriage with her, notwithstanding I felt for her, I am also a woman, I also pleaded with her and apologized to her, though she had no child for my husband yet. My husband didn’t force her out of the house and gave her time still pleading with her, his pastoral career was at stake.
One day she called me and said she thought about it and that it was hard for her but she would leave, she had packed her belongings, I solemnly thanked her and she left. This is how I and my husband lived happily and I conceived with four children for him till this moment.
This story has only been shared and known between my family and my husband family and of course close friends and those who lived here at Elepe. Thank you #PEOPLEAROUNDLAGOS for the opportunity to share this to the world.
